Brilliant Bayern Crush Auckland City 10–0 in Record-Breaking Club World Cup Opener
Chukwuebuka Chukwuemeka
Bayern München stormed into
the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup™ with a devastating 10–0 demolition of Auckland
City FC, sending an unmistakable message to the rest of the competition. The
Group C clash at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati will go down as the biggest victory
in Club World Cup history—and it’s only Day One.
French Flair Leads the
Onslaught
It was a night of pure
dominance, orchestrated in part by Bayern’s French contingent. Kingsley Coman, Sacha
Boey, and Michael Olise contributed five goals between them in a dazzling
first-half display that overwhelmed their amateur opponents from New Zealand.
Coman opened the floodgates in
the 6th minute—the first goal ever scored in the new-format FIFA Club World Cup—heading
home after a clever assist sequence involving Jonathan Tah and Joshua Kimmich.
He added a second in the 21st minute, bookending a four-minute blitz in which
Boey (18’) and Olise (20’) also found the net. Olise completed his brace in
first-half stoppage time, while veteran Thomas Müller, on what many call his
farewell tour, bagged goals in the 45th and 89th minutes.
